Frequently Asked Questions

The app says "Not admin" — how do I fix that?

Right-click the WhosConnected shortcut and choose Run as administrator. Running as admin unlocks packet recording, DHCP fingerprinting, ARP sweep, and the security event log. All other features work without admin rights.

My router isn't showing any devices — what do I check?

Go to the Settings tab and confirm the correct router brand is selected, then enter your router's IP, username, and password and click Test Connection. If the test fails, try the Diagnose button for more detail. Make sure you're on the same network as the router.

WhosConnected isn't detecting my ASUS / OpenWrt / TP-Link router.

Select the correct brand in Settings and verify credentials. For ASUS, the default admin page is usually 192.168.1.1. For OpenWrt, LuCI must be enabled with JSON-RPC access. TP-Link support is in progress — check back for updates.

Packet recording doesn't work.

Packet recording requires Administrator mode and Windows 10 version 2004 or later (pktmon must be available). Re-launch the app as Administrator and try again.

The world map isn't showing my connections.

The map uses GeoIP to locate remote IPs. Connections to local/private IPs won't appear. Make sure you have active TCP connections to public internet addresses — the connections table on the Dashboard is a good place to confirm.

How do I activate my licence?

Go to the About tab and enter your licence key in the format XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX. The app contacts our activation server to verify your key and bind it to your machine. After that, no internet connection is needed for future launches.

Can I move my licence to a new PC?

Yes — email us at support@store.whos-connected.com with your key and we'll reset it so you can activate on your new machine. Usually done within 24 hours.

I lost my licence key — can you resend it?

Email us from the address you used to purchase and we'll look it up and resend it within 24 hours.
